    • Message from the Chairman, Spyros Theodoropoulos

I am committed, together with the newly elected members of our Board of Directors, to give my all with the aim of strengthening entrepreneurship, for the benefit of employees, businesses, our members and the Greek economy as a whole.

      Our Members

SEV Members are large and medium-sized organized enterprises in Greece. Together they represent 50% of the business activity in the country, 43% of total turnover, 30% of corporate profits, 11% of employees insured by IKA (Social security Organisation) and 29% of corporate taxes in Greece.

      International Presence

SEV plays an important role in shaping decisions and policies at the EU level through its office in Brussels and through its active participation in BusinessΕurope, the leading European organisation representing 40 central industrial and employers’ federations from 34 countries. SEV also participates on a permanent basis in the Business and Industry Advisory Council (BIAC), operating within the framework of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), as well as in the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), an organisation of transnational corporations that advocates for cooperation between business and government to balance economic and environmental interests.

      Industry

Manufacturing is a crucial pillar of the Greek economy. Almost one third of jobs is directly or indirectly linked to it. A comprehensive industrial strategy is required for the transition towards a sustainable, innovative and export-oriented industrial sector for growth and jobs. The strategy, in line with EU priorities, will aim to reach 12% of GDP until 2020 and 15% in the medium term.
