SMEs Scale-Up
Improving the resilience and competitiveness of the Greek economy is directly related with helping SMEs and startups address their many challenges and scale-up. SEV is actively engaged in policy consultations to facilitate participation of SMEs in international trade networks and value chains, improve their governance, enhance their export performance, and increase their access to finance and innovation.
- Scaled-up SMEs, with emphasis on cross-regional connections, cross-business clustering, and exports.
- Up-skilled SMEs so that they respond to Industry 4.0 challenges, identify market opportunities, use new technologies and methods in their production and management, build export capacities, access global value chain networks, and secure financing.
- Well-financed SMEs, by improving EU funding mechanisms, including NSRF and RRF programs, as well as SMEs’ access to EU funds like Horizon, etc.
- Innovation – Technology – Knowledge: initiatives to accelerate technology transfer to SMEs, integrate innovation and promote sustainability in production.
- Skills for Industry 4.0. Improve adaptability by bridging the knowledge gap, improving governance skills, and business transfer procedures to strengthen SME’s resilience.
- Exports: Relying on domestic demand limits SMEs’ growth, curtails economies of scale and reduces productivity. Participation in international B2B networks improve internationalization and growth prospects.
- Access to Finance: EU funds’ goals and criteria, should increasingly emphasize SMEs’ scale-up (productivity, exports, job creation, etc.) and synergies within the ecosystem. In addition to traditional financial tools, we aim to further simplify and facilitate SMES’ access to investment capital, the stock market, etc.
- Administrative and regulatory conditions for thriving SMEs, with reduced administrative and compliance costs, predictable taxation, flexible labor market, quick reflexes to correct flaws, and functional dispute resolution mechanisms.
- Mergers, Acquisitions & Clustering to help achieve critical mass as an effective way to improve resilience, competitiveness and responsiveness to challenges related with digitalisation, sustainability, and Industry 4.0.
