Sector Specific Policies

Combining horizontal growth strategies with sector-specific policies for key industries like pharmaceuticals, ICT, food & beverage, and logistics, strengthens productive ecosystem and enhances comparative advantages. SEV advocates for sector-specific policies that trigger investment multipliers and enhance the country’s economic competitiveness and social growth.

  • Logistics: A shift towards regional supply chains due to the COVID-19 crisis highlights the country’s geo-economic location at the crossroads of Eurasian and Mediterranean trade and transport routes. SEV works to mobilize public and private investment in logistics’ infrastructure, multimodality, and sector digitalization, while also advocating for regulatory reform to facilitate sectoral growth and increase the local 3PL ecosystem’s ability to offer added value services.
  • Food & Beverage: A vibrant agribusiness sector, driven by the fast adoption of agrotechnology, supports the country’s strong global brand name in the sector. Policies should also encourage clustering and SME scale-ups.
  • Pharmaceuticals & Health: The COVID-19 crisis has underscored the importance of high-quality pharmaceuticals and health services. Greece’s healthcare and pharmaceuticals’ industry has many stand-out achievements, including exports, R&D activity, and job creation and we work towards further improving their prospects through. increasing investments in Health 4.0 services, and high value-added products.

Logistics: In addition to investments in infrastructure networks and multimodality in particular, the logistics sector’s growth will benefit from 3PL ecosystems around logistics parks (chief among them, the Thriassio Ecosystem).
Infrastructure: Networks’ modernization and expansion to support the national supply chain, will increase Greece’s role as a regional hub. Priorities include investments in networks interconnections (such as transport connections between freight gates and production facilities), as well as in the economy’s digital transformation and green transition.
Health 4.0: Includes the digital transformation in the healthcare and pharmaceuticals sector with the full introduction of prescriptions, EMRs, telemedicine, and e-procurement are core elements.
