Gizelis Robotics is giving the pulse for industrial smart factories with robotic technology at the first 4G/LTE Campus Network in Greece
Gizelis Robotics actively contributes to the robotic technological empowerment of the Greek industry with modern robotic systems and applications. Calpak, our partner and leading Greek manufacturing company of solar water heaters has now entered in the era of Industry 4.0 and Smart Manufacturing. Calpak’s factory is the first smart-fully automated-factory and one of the few “smart factories” in our country. Gizelis Robotics is the main partner of the company in the realization of its vision to upgrade its production unit. The integrated robots and cobots systems installed by Gizelis Robotics using advanced robotic arms, have literally reshaped Calpak’s factory production lines.
In the first phase of the project, Gizelis Robotics succeeded in automating the boiler manufacturing line with the introduction of robotic arms. Then the welding, handling and assembly configuration works were automated. This was followed by the complete automation of the second production line of solar panels with the introduction of new robotic arms. The actual result of the automation was the products’ quality improvement (welds, quality assembly) the huge increase of productivity, the reduction of the intensity of work in the manual works, as well as the significant improvement of the safety conditions and the flexibility in the production of new products. It is worth noting that Gizelis Robotics substantially contributed to the first 4G/LTE campus network (private network) in Greece, as a result of the cooperation at the Calpak plant with COSMOTE, Ericsson and PTC. COSMOTE undertook the integration into the network of the connected robotic machines of Gizelis Robotics and the augmented reality (AR) applications of the company PTC for the collection and utilization of data produced by the robotic mechanisms, forming an integrated production automation ecosystem. Thus the factory increases and optimizes production, while achieving fewer interruptions in operation and lower costs.
