SMEs Scale-Up
Strengthening the competitiveness and productivity of the Greek economy is closely linked to the growth of SMEs, which today account for approximately 85% of the private sector and contribute 63% of added value. As a member of BusinessEurope, SEV participates in consultations aimed at supporting SMEs’ participation in international networks, reducing their administrative burden, facilitating their digital adaptation, strengthening their access to skilled talent, and improving their access to financing and innovation.
- Scaling up of SMEs to the European average, with emphasis on acquisitions, partnerships, mergers and collaborations with larger businesses.
- Improving the skills of SME executives on the challenges of Industry 4.0, the integration of new technologies and production and management methods, the identification of export opportunities, and the utilisation of financing tools.
- Financing of SMEs through European mechanisms such as ESPA, the Recovery Fund, Horizon, etc.
- Innovation, Technology, Knowledge: Accelerating technology transfer to SMEs and integrating greater innovation into production.
- Adaptation to Industry 4.0: Modern business organisation and management skills, knowledge transfer, B2B collaborations.
- Extroversion: Supporting participation in international B2B networks.
- Financing: Redesigning the criteria for the allocation of European funds, with emphasis on scaling up (productivity, extroversion, job creation, etc.) and business synergies. Facilitating and simplifying access to non-traditional financing tools (investment funds, stock market products, etc.).
- Reduction of disproportionate administrative burdens and restrictions relating to taxation, the labour market, the quality of services from regional and local authorities, the administration of justice and the resolution of disputes with public administration.
- Facilitation of acquisitions and mergers to accelerate the pace of SME growth, and thereby improve their resilience, competitiveness and adaptation to the challenges posed by digital transformation and the green transition.
- Participation in SEV events such as the General Assembly, General Councils, thematic workshops, etc.
- Feedback on draft legislation under consultation, participation in surveys and questionnaires sent via email.
- SMEs Committee, which works to strengthen the competitiveness and productivity of SMEs, with emphasis on their digital adaptation, the improvement of their corporate governance and their access to financing and innovation.
