Tax Policy

An effective tax policy, in line with the EU framework, is vital to the sustainable and long-term growth. Through its Tax Committee initiatives, SEV contributes actively to EU and national tax consultations, promotes tax policy proposals, and addresses horizontal and sector-specific tax issues.

  • While acknowledging several important improvements introduced during the past years, the formation of a competitive tax framework that encourages business prospects and leads to the growth of public revenue remains a key goal. Issues regarding personal income taxation, corporate income taxation, consumer taxes, the level of several indirect taxes on production and social security contributions, etc. need to be addressed through a holistic approach aimed at encouraging private investments, promoting a competitive tax environment, and creating new jobs on a level playing field.
  • Investment promotion through specialized investment tax incentives, in line with international practices are crucial for increasing added value and production capabilities is the crux of the matter.
  • We work towards a tax system that ensures the growth of investment and good quality jobs, and the introduction of tax incentives which promote investments like super and accelerated depreciations, R&D incentives, talent retention incentives, SME scale-up incentives, loss carry forward for at least 10 years, group taxation etc.
  • Audit procedures’ simplification and widening the use of the “tax certificate”.
